Would You Do This To Your 4G63 Engine?
Просмотров 6 тыс.14 дней назад
Removing the balance shafts (aka a balance shaft delete) from a 4G63 has long been a common way of freeing up a little power and eliminating a potential failure point. Done properly, it can achieve both these aims; however, if this is not dealt with correctly, it can actually cause premature oil pump failure. We’ll look at the two common options and cover the pros and cons of each. 🙋♂️ Take $2...

Why so sloppy? You know the speed of the car and the next gear. Almost all cars have an electronic throttle and the ECU completely controls the engine. You can set the engine RPM exactly for the next gear.
Great podcast featuring the top 2 minds in the tuning business...Andre Simon Matt Sanford.
I think you accidently put the wrong title on your video. Title ->pops and bangs. Video content -> racing clutches. Pops and bangs have nothing to do with the clutch.
5:00 There are always several options for video titles noting the thumbnail also has text which is usually read along with the title before diving in 🤘 If you in particular only came for 'pops and bangs' you learn a bit about them, why they are not necessarily a good thing, what causes them in relation to gear shifts in a setup like this and more. My main question is why? VE tables of 5, 10 etc has not been nothing new in many European ecu's for the last 10 years, maybe more. Why the added complexity? Is easier for the oem to tune? And i thought Bosch was the king of overcomplicating things. If someone can shed a light on this.
The comments about the height difference its just too much😂....cudnt even follow wat they talking about.
When you have more money than taste
Taste is subjective. If what you want to do is deemed tasteful by your local (it's a big world) popular culture, great! If not, who cares! It's your project, time and money 😎 - Taz.
Will MIG gas be OK for purging?
No, it contains CO2 which is a reactive gas and reactive gasses are what cause the issues the we're trying to avoid by doing this. You want inert gasses for purging/shielding like pure argon or a mixture of argon and helium. Hope that helps, great question - Taz.
So nerdy! i love it!
Perfect! That's the goal haha Hope you enjoying whatever projects you have on the go or have planned 🤘 - Taz.
Thank you for explaining the eccentricities of the new Dodge. Eye opener.
This is why I love TA2 class
I once started developing my own nn to use as a plant model to than tune my pid boost control, didn't end all that well as my dataset wasn't big enough so the network got very biased and was having big errors in verification datasets, but seeing it's used in the industry as a defacto control strategy it gives me a confidence boost to retry it 😊
I’m a HVAC controls engineer I’ve been thinking about ways to automate PID controls for ages, but because the process happens incredibly slowly vs say a PLC PID tune it’s hard to implement and I still do it by feel
The DA is huge. I have a 4.8 swapped grand wagoneer. And the tune change from New england (sea level) to Colorado was huge!
ai tuner
Depends on your definition of AI vs sophisticated/clever mathematics 🤘 'AI' is certainly a more marketable term that's for sure 😅 - Taz.
Man, we sound similar, Aussies and Kiwis. I suppose we are the same people with the same ancestors from the same places.
Accents and how they form is pretty fascinating eh! - Taz.
That’s why when you take your time and do a tune correct. And set all the scalings and compensations correct. It will run like stock or way better, but use the stock parameters rescaled for the new power level. Tuning this way can yield great benefits.
Great video, interesting how to tune with the neural network trainer. Again thanks for the information that you are sharing every day

Wow this seems like it’d be incredibly slow for a complex tune
It certainly doesn't make it quicker 😅 - Taz.
Where can I find out what given components can handle my main concerns are cams and timing chain
The manufacturer for aftermarket parts, or a quality retailer (not just one clipping the ticket on parts they know nothing about). So if you're fitting a Kelford cam, talk to them, ideally before you even buy it =) For OEM parts its harder as they can't tell you, but for many vehicles that are not new to the market there is a ton of information on forums etc laying out the power levels that are considered 'safe' for many parts. Outside of that a respected engine builder with experience will have had a ton of customers doing a lot of different things and will have a good idea, tuners too. The key is really just to not be afraid to search and talk to people taking your time before pulling out your wallet. Hope that helps! - Taz.
Love a pragmatic solution.
Mind boggling
Thank you HPA for getting into Gen3 Hemi tuning. I purchased the module INSTANTLY as soon as I saw it available. While I've not gotten into it yet because my buddy's 6.4L Apache is still coming together - I fully trust y'all to lay out it there in a credible way. There is very little credible intel out there on tuning these PCMs. Anyone decent at it is fully unwilling to share details. I was dreading having to muddle my way through it solo. Keep up the good work.
I hope you enjoy it when the time comes along with being able to help a buddy out 😎 Awesome to hear, good man! - Taz
what if you would have an intercooler after the first charger? then the density is better for the next charger? Am i wrong?
i needed a calculator it says 10bars what the hack are you doing hahahahaha crazy
My Corolla hatchback exhaust does a pop it naturally once a while, is that okay?
i always hated this tune and the fact that people think they are cool with this doggshitt tune. an ignition cut bang on shift is much cooler
In other news, grass is green and the sky is blue
My lawn is brown all summer and science says the sky is actually violet, so not sure what to do here 😅 - Taz.

Is this possible with the traditional 'H' pattern gearbox with some sort of clutch sensor? So i can keep my foot flat but once it senses the clutch start moving it cuts out and then returns when the clutch is released? Id imagine it wouldn't be able to do downshift rev-matching because it couldn't tell if you where going up or down a gear, so now that i thought of that i guess it probably isn't possible
Yes, you can do this with a clutch sensor in such a gearbox, as you mention the downshifting is a bit different but part of that puzzle is the strain gauge on the gear lever not just the type of gearbox. There is a webinar on it here using our old 350z: www.hpacademy.com/previous-webinars/186-configuring-flat-shifting/ - Taz.
Is there a timeline for the cast EJ block and heads?😬
Good job!!! Let me ask you something, what's the recomended AWG size of the cable? Thanks
So where do the conrods and crank came from?
i have T304 stainless steal headers will it be still okay to put a wrap or a cover?
The only real difference is an I-beam is a typical design for forging, and H-beam is typical for a billet machining. A H beam is probably also better at slinging oil on cylinder wall.
If i could get a machine around £1000 i would buy one... i cant weld good still a amateur but this looks super easy ..... be perfect for my automotive need ie exhausts and thin panels
You might be able to pick one up second hand for that price at some stage. Not quite there yet though, however, you would get a really solid used TIG with that budget for sure instead - Taz.
How to get a book on wiring
"Make sure to rev up to 11,000 RPM."
I’m confused hydrogen embrittlement more prone on 625 or l19?
L19. ARP generally supply gloves with those parts too which makes it easier to just pop them on and not have to worry - Taz
I just set cruise on a hilly road
It's not as fast or effective as the left foot braking technique given no hills have a constant gradient so you will find it much, much harder to hit and hold specific cells. Whatever works for you though, we can only tell you what we do and why but ultimately you take your own path and that's OK. Happy tuning 😎 - Taz.
I still don't fully understand the logic behind disabling LTFT, especially if they get carried over into open loop fueling. If an issue with the vehicle exists that is requiring 15% more fuel to be added than it should, yes, you definitely want to find and address the underlying cause, but don't you also want the PCM adding that additional ~15% during open loop/WOT to avoid going lean until the problem gets fixed? I've seen enough tuners say they turn off LTFT to realize I'm probably missing something(s) here in my knowledge about how this works.
Tuning is not to fix mechanical issues. It's to optimize a mechanically sound drivetrain. You can tune around issues. But ultimately it will have to be done again after mechanical repairs are made.
Only two of the worlds best tuners sharing knowledge. So much to learn
I Feel Less As Bad. My Engine Has Wiped Out The Mains Bearings 2 Times. First Time The Crankshaft Balance Was Wrong. It Lasted 5000 Miles Before Oil Pressure Hit Zero At Idle. Corrected The Engine Balance And I Got 20,000 Miles Out Of The Engine. Mains Were Wiped Out Again. Main Bearings Clearances Were About .0024". Using 20W50. It's A 2.489" Journal. Our Next Try Is Going To Be .028" Oil Clearance And Switch From P Bearings To H Bearings. We Are Thinking The Crankshaft Is Bending Under Power And It Needs More Main Clearance To Keep The Engine Alive A Little Longer When It Bends. It's The 2 Inner Main Bearings That Have Always Shown The Most Wear.
to keep that 3 later agency and it AGENTS at bay, search up dean clifford and robert menard. The world of commerce is both powerful and empowering . One could put a binding contract in palce that if those agents so decide to contract with you , that itl cost them big time, as a simple one solution. many ways to skin a cat here.
